The Methodist Church of Southern Africa – Grahamstown District 0200 committed to assist in education related issues in various schools within the Grahamstown District.

My role in the office of the Grahamstown District Bishop’s office is to ensure that there is continuous communication with various Circuits that fall within the District, I assist with projects and activities that are co-ordinated by that office.  Currently we assist various schools through partnerships.  The society I belong to in the past two years has managed to provide school uniform for over 100 children, we managed to get a water tank sponsor and are in the process of setting up a garden that will benefit the surrounding community.  We have through a congregant managed to have the school painted and toilets renovated.  We have several people that have donated sanitary towels for young girls who cannot afford to buy them and as a result miss school when relevant.  We are have a representative that assists with educating about cleanliness and  looking after your toilets, a retired nurse that goes to the school to educate about puberty and someone to assist with gardening.  We try to match our programmes with an educational perspective, hoping that ultimately we will produce self sustainable projects and independent thinking individuals who will not rely on government or formal employment in order to be able to provide for themselves.
